Sis May's life is complicated when S'dumo, played by Joe Mafela, comes to live with her. This series was the highest performing series on television in the late 80s and early 90s.

The family gets frequent, unexpected and disruptive visits from Maggie's mother, Ouma Gous. The Van Tonders also take on two foster children, Riekie and Neelsie. Orkney Snork Nie has been one of the most successful South African TV comedies and is seen as the first Afrikaans sitcom.
